Basic Course Curriculum

Courses
Home Inspection Safety
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student to be safe during the inspection. This course includes a review of personal protection equipment, ladder safety and use, client safety and how to address injury.
Residential Roofing
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student how to perform the roof portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of nearly all types of roofs used in residential structures, the various roof systems and components, and common defects found in residential roofs.
Residential Electrical
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the electrical portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of service entrance, grounding and electrical safety issues.
Residential Plumbing
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the plumbing portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of leaks, inadequate water supplies, water contamination, and incorrect installation of plumbing components.
Residential HVAC
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the HVAC portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of the components of common HVAC systems, including warm-air, hydronic, steam and electric heating systems, air conditioning systems and heat pump systems.
Residential Exterior
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the Exterior portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of the components of exterior of the home and how the exterior of the home helps to regulate temperatures inside the home.
Residential Foundations and Piers
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the foundation and pier portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of the components that make up the foundations and piers of the home, indications of settlement and indications of structural failure.
Residential Structural Issues
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student recognize structural issues during the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of major and minor structural defects and their consequences on the home.
Residential Fireplaces, Stoves, and Chimneys
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the fireplace, stove and chimney portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of the components that make up the fireplace, stove and chimney, and how to identify defects in these systems.
Residential Attic, Insulation, Ventilation and Interiors
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the student to perform the attic, insulation, ventilation, and interior portion of the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of the components that make up the attic, insulation, ventilation, and interior, and how to identify defects in these systems.
Residential Moisture Issues
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student recognize moisture issues during the Home Inspection. This course includes a review of major and minor moisture issues and their consequences on the home.
Residential Inspection Software
Course Objectives: This course will teach the student the basics on how to use home inspection software during the home inspection. This course includes a review of the HomeGauge Home Inspection Software, and the benefits of using this software to prepare home inspection reports for clients.
